Monterro buys Specops
Swedish private equity firm Monterro has acquired a majority stake in Stockholm-based cybersecurity business Specops Software.
The GP drew equity for the transaction from Monterro 3, a SEK 2.5bn vehicle that held a final close in January.
Monterro claims to be the largest investor in the Nordic region focused purely on B2B software companies. It said it would support Specops' expansion plans into the identity and access management industry.
Company
Specops was founded in 2001 and is headquartered in Stockholm. It protects business data by blocking weak passwords and securing user authentication with cloud-based cybersecurity software. The company reported a loss of SEK 5.8m in 2018 from revenues of SEK 28m.
