
Vaaka buys Foreship
Finnish buyout firm Vaaka Partners has acquired a majority stake in naval architecture and marine engineering services company Foreship.
Vaaka drew equity from its third investment vehicle, Vaaka Partners Buyout Fund III, which closed on €225m in 2017 and writes equity cheques in the range of €5-30m.
Markus Aarnio, Marcus Höglund and Mattias Jörgensen will retain their positions in Foreship after the transaction, and employees' ownership of Foreship will stay at 40%.
Vaaka's representatives on the board will be Ilkka Pentikäinen and Petrus Blomqvist.
Company
Foreship was founded in 2002 and is headquartered in Helsinki. It designs cruise ships, as well as offering engineering services for the refit and repair of cruise ships. The company employs 100 people, according to its website.
