EQT leads $3m seed round for Willa
Swedish finanical technology startup Willa has raised $3m in a seed round led by EQT Ventures.
Willa will use the investment to launch its product Willa Pay, which makes collaboration between freelancers and corporations easier and guarantees freelancers timely payments with no paperwork or risk.
The platform, still in beta phase and only open to a limited number of users, plans on bringing creators and freelancers on board in Q3 2020, and aims to have freelancers worldwide using its platform for payments.
The startup is also backed by Nordic Makers, a collective of US unicorn founders: Atomico co-founder Mattias Ljungman, who is now running Moonfire Ventures; angel investor Johan Lorenzen, who is co-founder of freelancer bank Holvi; and angel investor and fintech entrepreneur Michael Hansen.
Aron Levin, chief marketing officer at Willa and former director of growth at Spotify, said the company will use social media influencers to market the launch of Willa Pay.
