
Axcel acquires veterinary care provider VetGruppen
Nordic private equity firm Axcel has acquired Danish veterinary care provider VetGruppen alongside its founder.
The company's co-founder and chief operating officer, Rasmus Hansen, will remain a significant co-owner.
The GP is currently deploying its Axcel VI fund, which is targeting €800m and held a first close in February 2020 on €507m. The vehicle targets mid-market investments in Nordic countries.
Company
Founded in 2019 and based in Birkerød, VetGruppen's clinics provide primary, specialist and emergency care for pets across Denmark. The group has 200 employees who treat 200,000 patients every year.
According to its annual report, VetGruppen recorded an operating loss of DKK -5.5m (-€739,500) in 2020.
