
Scope invests SEK 30m in Klättermusen
Swedish private equity firm Scope has acquired a majority stake in Åre-based outdoor sports equipment and apparel company Klättermusen for SEK 30m.
Jonas Meerits, who is investing alongside Scope in the deal, was previously managing director of J Lindeberg and will come in as chairman of the board.
Peter and Eva Askulv will remain as minority shareholders in the company. Klättermusen is looking to replace Peter with a new managing director in due course, in order for him to focus on design and product development.
The fresh capital will be used to continue the company's international expansion, increase sales and marketing, and improve product quality technically as well as in terms of sustainability.
Klättermusen contacted Scope via proprietary networks to initiate the deal. Discussions started in November 2012 and took around 10 months to complete.
Scope invests in Nordic companies and currently manages three funds with capital commitments in excess of €200m.

Founded in 1984 by Peter Askulv and based in Åre, Klättermusen manufactures clothing and equipment for customers in 20 countries including Sweden, Norway, China, Japan and Korea.
With the majority of its sales outside of Sweden, the company has sales in excess of SEK 50m, a negative EBITDA and 20 employees.

Fredrik Oweson is a partner at Scope and new board member. Staffan Rönn will also serve on the board of directors. Peter Askulv is the managing director of Klättermusen.
