3i sells LNI stake for €36m
3i Group has sold its 5.7% stake in Lakeside Network Investments (LNI) to Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association of America for тЌ36m.
However, 3i Infrastructure retained its entire shareholding in LNI.
Previous funding
LNI, a newco controlled by 3i Group, 3i Infrastructure, GS Infrastructure Partners and Ilmarinen Mutual Pension Insurance Company, wholly acquired Finland-based Vattenfall Oy and Vattenfall Lämpö from Swedish parent company Vattenfall in December 2011. The leveraged deal was valued at €1.54bn.

LNI regroups Finnish electricity providers LNI Verkko and LNI Lämpö, previously subsidiaries of Swedish power company Vattenfall. Headquartered in Tampere, LNI Verkko operates in the South West of Finland with a 12% market share, supplying electricity to around 400,000 customers. LNI Lämpö provides district heating and natural gas in Finland.
