Balderton leads $3.5m round for TrademarkNow
Balderton Capital has led a $3.5m series-A round for TrademarkNow, a Helsinki-based trademark management firm.
Existing angel investors also participated in the round.
The company will use the funding to complete new hires and expand its global presence, building its coverage of trademark registry.
Earlier this year, Balderton closed its fifth European vehicle on $305m. The fund invests in series-A funding rounds for European technology companies and was the source of funding for the TrademarkNow deal.
Company
Founded in 2013 and based in Helsinki, TrademarkNow was launched by a former trademark lawyer. The firm provides businesses with an online system for trademark management, allowing users to assess the risk of confusion of new names or brands with existing trademarks and determine the likelihood of successful trademark applications.
TrademarkNow currently searches 16 trademark registries globally. By the end of 2014, the company expects to cover all registries in European Union states and 10 further territories. Customers pay annual subscriptions for unlimited searches of the service.
The company employs nine members of staff.
