Industrifonden leads $5m series-A in Trialbee
Swedish government-backed VC Industrifonden has led a $5m series-A in clinical trial recruitment platform Trialbee, alongside family office Briban Invest.
Both backers were existing investors, with Industrifonden's first investment in the company coming in 2012.
The fresh capital will be used to help expand Trialbee's range of offerings and, in particular, help the company expand into the US market.
Previous funding
Trialbee first raised funding in June 2010, when Almi Invest injected SEK 1.5m with an accelerator and business angels.
In October 2012, Industrifonden supplemented Trialbee's first round with a SEK 5m investment for a minority stake.
Company
Trialbee is an online platform for recruiting patients to clinical trials, allowing pharmaceutical companies to recruit participants more easily.
The company was founded in 2010 and is based in Malmö.
People
Investment manager Lars Henriksson worked on the deal for Industrifonden. Tobias Folkesson is the CEO of Trialbee.
