Erhvervsinvest buys Samsø Syltefabrik and European Freeze Dry
Danish GP Erhvervsinvest has acquired compatriot companies Samsø Syltefabrik and European Freeze Dry (EFD) in a carve-out from their parent, Danish animal feed co-operative DLG.
The spinouts of jam and pickle maker Samsø Syltefabrik alongside freeze-dry products and services provider EFD come as part of a streamlining strategy at DLG, which deemed the two companies non-core assets.
Following the buyouts, the GP plans to support both companies' growth organically as well as through acquisitions.
Erhvervsinvest's acquisitions were made using capital from the GP's 2013-vintage DKK 871m vehicle, Erhvervsinvest III, which focuses on Danish SME investments. Earlier this year, the same fund backed the MBO of PCH Engineering.
Company
Based on the Danish island of Samsø, Samsø Syltefabrik is a jam and pickle maker founded in 1974. It produces pickled vegetables such as beetroot, red cabbage and cucumber, in addition to producing fruit jams and condiments.
Founded in Lille Karleby west of Copenhagen in 1964, European Freeze Dry is a maker of freeze-dried products and provider of freeze-drying services.
