SBT Venture Capital et al. back Walkbase
SBT Venture Capital and Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo have provided тЌ3m in series-A funding for Walkbase, a Finland-based marketing optimisation platform.
The financing round was led by SBT, whose main investor is Moscow-based Sberbank Rossii. In connection with the investment, Sberbank is planning to adopt the platform across its 18,000 retail branches.
Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo, the former CEO of Nokia, will join Walkbase's advisory board.
The fresh capital will be used to develop the company's sales, marketing and customer-insight teams, as well as accelerate growth of its marketing optimisation platform for omni-channel retail in the EMEA region and Russia. The company is also reviewing options for launching pilot schemes with high-street retail chains in the UK.
SBT is a London-based early-stage venture capital fund focused on fintech (financial technology) investments. Sberbank, the largest bank in Russia and the CEE region, is the fund's principal investor.

Walkbase received seed funding in April this year.

Founded in 2009 and based in Turku, Finland, Walkbase has developed a platform to optimise marketing via online and offline campaign analysis and forecasting tools for chief marketing officers.
Walkbase's clients include speciality retail brands, fashion and apparel retailers, casinos and airports. Several of its clients are UK-based.

Mircea Mihaescu is a partner at SBT. Tuomas Wuoti is the CEO and co-founder of Walkbase.
