
Fjord Capital's BioGasol secures €5m equity funding
Danish alternative fuel provider BioGasol ApS has secured €5m in equity financing from existing investors including Fjord Capital Partners, alongside a €10m grant from the Danish Energy Agency.
The Energy Technology Development and Demonstration Program (EUDP) is responsible for the grant allocation of the Danish Energy Agency. Unipension, a Danish pension fund and existing investor, joined Fjord in the financing round.
Fjord acquired BioGasol in March 2010.
Company
BioGasol is a Danish energy company focusing on renewable fuel production from lignocellulosic materials like agricultural waste. Based in Ballerup, the company was founded in 2006 as a spinout from The Technical University of Denmark, DTU.
The company has developed a pre-treatment reactor design for alternative fuel production. A new testing and production facility is planned to be built in Denmark, commencing in early 2013. The new facility will be co-financed by industrial and strategic partners, including SweetWater Energy.

Senior partner Arild Nerdrum led the reinvestment for Fjord and chairs the company's board of directors. CIO Niels Erik Petersen represented Unipension. Andreas Weber is CEO of BioGasol.
