Capman acquires Harvia
Capman has agreed to acquire a majority stake in Finnish sauna company Harvia via its 10th buyout fund.
The company is currently owned by the Harvia family, which will remain substantial minority owners and will continue in their current management positions following the transaction. Additional Harvia family representatives and key employees will be offered the opportunity to invest in the company in connection with the deal, which is expected to complete by the end of May.
Capman will support Harvia's development within Finland and in its export markets, as well as a partial generational shift in the company. The GP was attracted by both the company itself – with regards to staff, production efficiency and R&D efforts – and the growing health and well-being market.
Company
Founded in 1950, Harvia's offering includes sauna heaters, steam rooms, bathroom saunas and sauna accessories. The company employs close to 300 people, of whom nearly 200 are based in Finland and around 100 in China and Hong Kong. The company reported a turnover of €47m in 2013, of which 40% was generated in Finland and 60% from exports to more than 60 countries.
People
Anders Björkell, partner at CapMan Buyout, led the deal. Pertti Harvia is the managing director of Harvia.
