Polaris acquires Det Danske Madhus
Polaris Private Equity has taken a majority stake in Det Danske Madhus, a Danish provider of homemade meals and food-related services.
Polaris secured a 51% stake in the company. CEO Henrik Sørensen and CFO Brian Sørensen, the current owners, will remain as shareholders and continue in their management roles. There will be no changes to management following the transaction.
Polaris aims to support Det Danske Madhus in growing its service offering as well as expanding into neighbouring markets including Sweden. The company is also expected to perform add-on acquisitions within the next 12 months.
The investment came from Polaris Private Equity Fund III, which launched in October 2008 and closed on €365m in May 2010. Other investments from the fund include HTC Sweden, A-Tex and DMP Mølleservice.

Founded in 2003 by Henrik Sørensen, Det Danske Madhus delivers around 16,000 meals to pensioners in their own home as well as to nursing homes in 79 Danish municipalities via six catering centres.
Det Danske Madhus is based in Thisted and employs 300 people in the cities of Silkeborg, Varde, Vejle, Aarhus, Helsingør and Køge. The company generated a turnover of around DKK 400m in 2013.
