Seed Capital invests €940k in Vaavud
Seed Capital has invested тЌ940,000 in Vaavud, the Danish provider of crowdsourced weather forecast software and smartphone wind meters.
The new capital will be used to recruit staff in order to strengthen Vaavud's software team, which is currently developing a crowdsourced weather service.
Vaavud's wind meters for smartphones will be used to feed into the company's weather service, which aims to offer a "high-resolution" weather forecast service, providing personalised weather reports.
The company plans to release a software development kit to allow other developers to include functionality provided by Vaavud in their own apps.
Vaavud originally raised £20,000 on Kickstarter to develop its smartphone wind meter.
Seed Capital's investment follows its successful listing of Windar Photonics on London's AIM earlier this month, which valued the VC's stake at £11.2m on introduction.
Company
Founded in 2013, Copenhagen-based Vaavud started out by developing wind meters for smartphones, but has since expanded to develop crowdsourced weather forecasts.
The company's weather service aims to provide more localised weather reports by collecting data from its customers' wind meters and the built-in barometers in several new smartphones.
