Via Venture acquires EnviDan
Via Venture Partners, the private equity arm of Danish pension fund ATP, has acquired Danish environmental services group EnviDan in a management buyout.
The deals saw Via acquire the stakes of two of EnviDan's three founders, Simon Boel and Jan Tryk, while Søren Brønd retained his stake in the company. Jan Tryk will step down as chair of EnviDan's board following the completion of the transaction.
Via's acquisition was the culmination of several years' work by the founders to complete a generational change in the company. Current CEO Morten Fjerbæk, who will continue following the MBO, was appointed to head EnviDan in 2012 as part of the succession plan.
EnviDan's management and key employees will invest alongside Via.
The GP was attracted to the company's financial performance, and expects to see substantial consolidation and growth in the environmental services sector over the coming years.
Via's acquisition was made through its 2010-vintage second fund, the DKK 1bn Via Venture Partners Fond II, which has ATP as its main LP and focuses on investments in Danish SMEs with revenues of DKK 75-750m.
