Eyrir Invest holds ISK 2.5bn first close
Icelandic Eyrir Invest has held an ISK 2.5bn first close for its maiden venture fund, Eyrir Sprotar.
The fund manager said in a statement that it expects to add more investors to Eyrir Sprotar.
Eyrir Invest is one of a handful of investment companies in Iceland, and is an investor in one of Iceland's largest companies, food processing machinery manufacturer Marel.
The new fund is among three venture funds to launch in Iceland in February.
Investors
The VC vehicle's investors include it's GP commitments as well as Arion Bank, Icelandic pension funds and private investors.
Investments
Eyrir Sprotar will make seed and growth investments in Icelandic companies with potential for international growth and value creation.
The fund's GP operates a buy-and-build strategy that it said will also influence its venture vehicle.
Eyrir Sprotar has made one investment: Mure, an Icelandic software company working on the development of a virtual reality workplace environment.
