PBM acquires Breas Medical
Healthcare-focused investor PBM Capital has acquired Breas Medical, a Sweden-based developer of sleep apnea treatment products, from General Electric subsidiary GE Healthcare.
Following the acquisition, PBM plans on merging Breas with its existing portfolio company Human Design Medical (HDM), a Boston-based lifestyle medical devices developer focused on the treatment of sleep apnea.

Breas develops home respiratory ventilators and products for the treatment of sleep apnea. Products include the non-invasive respiratory ventilator device Vivo and the iSleep range, a family of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) devices that are designed to prevent the airway in a sleep apnea sufferer from collapsing or becoming blocked by maintaining a constant flow of airway pressure.
Breas has a network of distributors across nine countries and its products are sold in 40 countries. The company's new Vivo 50 ventilator device is set to launch in the US during the first quarter of 2014.
Founded in 1991 and acquired by GE Healthcare in 2008, Gothenburg-based Breas currently employs more than 100 staff.
