Erhvervsinvest has acquired Gertsen & Olufsen, a Denmark-based supplier to the shipping industry.
Bo Kristensen, who was appointed director of Gertsen & Olufsen in 1993, will continue as an active member of the board and co-shareholder in the company following the transaction.
Charlottenlund-based Erhvervsinvest was established in 2004 and focuses on buyouts of small to medium-sized Danish companies. The firm has raised three funds to date and its most recent investments include Danish life sciences company Scanbur in January this year, Pro Design International and Damolin.
Company
Founded in 1945 and based in Hørsholm, Denmark, Gertsen & Olufsen develops, produces and distributes a range of products for the maritime and offshore market, mainly vibration compensators and biological water treatment plants.
The vibration compensators are installed on large ships such as oil tankers, container ships and bulk carriers in order to reduce unwanted vibrations caused by the engine. The products are sold globally to ship owners and builders. The bio reactors are meanwhile designed to cleanse wastewater from kitchens, bathrooms and toilets on ships, rigs and remote research stations.
