Visiopharm (Denmark) - Nov 2007

NorthCap Partners, the venture arm of BankInvest Group, has taken a 15% stake in Copenhagen-based software company Visiopharm. The investor was attracted to the deal because of Visiopharm’s market position. Two out of the three largest pharmaceutical companies in the world are customers of the Visiopharm’s technology, but only in a few departments. Hence, NorthCap Partners believe the company has strong growth potential going forward.

Visiopharm is a software provider for the pharmaceutical industry. The software is used in pre-clinical drug development processes and is designed to reduce the cost and time for a drug to reach the market. The company is currently collaborating with leading universities and pharmaceutical and biotech companies. Visiopharm was founded in 2001 and has 15 employees. In 2006, the company recorded revenues of $2-3m.

People

Michael Grunkin and Johan Doré founded the company, and Grunkin is the CEO. Thomas Weilby Knudsen, managing partner, of NorthCap Partners has been involved in the deal process and will take a seat on the board of directors.
