Momail, a Stockholm-based mobile email business, has attracted $5.4m in first round funding from the Swedish 6th Pension Fund, Bonnier Invest and several business angels from Sweden, Russia, England and South Africa. The investment round will enable the business to expand into new markets and enhance product development.

Momail has developed a system called MMOPE (Mobile Message Optimization and Protection Engine), which is a technique designed for optimising mobile data transmitted through the Momail system, including attachments. This functionality speeds up data transmission, while saving up to 99% percent of the data sent to a mobile device. The business is headquartered in Stockholm.
