Fjord Media, a Norwegian developer, marketer and seller of routing, signal processing and optical transmission equipment, has received growth capital from Verdane Capital. The deal was privately sourced by Lars Thoresen, group partner of Verdane Capital Advisors, who has been in contact with the entrepreneur, Wiggo Evensen, since the company’s inception. Verdane Capital was attracted to Fjord Media by its core technology, which is well positioned to addresses a global multi-billion dollar industry and by its organisation of serial entrepreneurs and experienced industry professionals. The capital injection will primarily be used to expand the company’s sales and marketing activities internationally and to build the organisation. The second focus will be to expand the product capabilities and complete further R&D.

Company

Sandefjord-based Fjord Media was founded in 2005 and offers a multi-purpose frame and control systems in all digital formats that reduce inventory and minimise rack space. The multi-purpose frame, called free4®, offers routing, optical transport interfaces, processing and distribution/conversion in the same frame as with one control system. Its customers are in the broadcasting, multimedia and telecoms industries. The company currently employs 14 people.

People

Arnstein Nordbotten, partner, and Fredrik Høst, senior associate, worked on the deal for Verdane Capital, and Høst will also join the board of directors. Wiggo Evensen is the CEO and founder of Fjord Media.
