
Valedo backs Becksöndergaard
Valedo Partners has invested in fashion accessories brand Becksöndergaard Copenhagen.
Valedo invested via Valedo Partners Fund II AB. The fund closed on SEK 2bn in July 2011.
The terms and conditions of the transaction, which makes Valedo the new majority investor, are not disclosed. The founders will remain significant shareholders in the company.
Company
Founded in 2003 and based in Copenhagen, Becksöndergaard is an accessories brand focused on scarves and leather bags for women aged between 20-50.
The company has an international presence with close to 80% of total sales being exports, primarily to countries in Western Europe.
Becksöndergaard, which employs approximately 20 staff, had sales in excess of DKK 100m in 2012.
People
Anna Søndergaard and Lis Beck are the founders of Becksöndergaard.
Danny Feltmann Espersen, who was previously at Bang & Olufsen and H&M, will serve as chairman of the board of directors. Søren Schriver (CEO of sport apparel brand Hummel) and Thommy Nilsson (former CEO of KappAhl and chairman of the board of Oscar Jacobson) will also join the board, among others.
Lesia M Zuk was appointed managing director of Becksöndergaard in January 2013. She has previous experience from Noa Noa, IC Companys and Rosendahl Design Group.
