
Ratos’s Arcus acquires Modern Fluids
Swedish GP Ratos’s portfolio company Arcus Gruppen has purchased 90% of Finnish wine importer Modern Fluids.
The acquisition was made by Arcus Gruppen's subsidiary, Vingruppen, and is expected to increase the group's market share in Finland by 10%.
Modern Fluids CEO Katja Angervo will hold the remaining 10% stake in the company following the transaction.
Previous funding
Arcus was acquired by Ratos in 2005 for NOK 700m, when the GP bought 85% of the company from Sucra. The deal included a NOK 263m senior debt package, with the remaining NOK 434m provided as equity.
Ratos completed a NOK 220m refinancing of the group in March 2011, which saw a NOK 130m dividend paid out to the GP.
Company
Modern Fluids is a Finnish wine importer based in Helsinki, importing Taittinger, McGuigan and Fairview wines, among others.
The company, founded in 2003, had sales of approximately of around €13.5m last year.
Arcus is a supplier of wine and spirits in the Nordic region. Its brands include Aalborg Akvavit, Linie Akvavit, Vikingfjord Vodka and Braastad Cognac, among others.
