Cesa sparks private equity inter est
The wind power company Cesa (Corporación Eólica) is generating some interest on the part of private equity players, with Bridgepoint and Gas Natural reported to be actively interested in acquiring a 24% stake in the company. The stake is currently held by Joseba Grabales, and is estimated to be worth as much as €100m. Cesa is part of Grupo Guascor, which is in the process of restructuring its activities. As well as Cesa, the group is divesting Guascor SA and Centro Tecnológico, its motor divisions, and Guascor Explotaciones Energéticas. Grupo Guascor’s other shareholders include Mercapital, which has agreed its exit from the group, leaving its founder, Luis Aguirre, with a 75% interest. The remaining 25% of Cesa is in the hands of another founding partner of Guascor, although it is being sold by Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein.
