Dentons hires Abbas as partner for Rome office

Law firm Dentons has hired Aian Abbas as a partner to boost its Rome-based corporate, M&A and private equity team.
A former corporate partner at Ashurst, Abbas has joined the Rome-based team at Dentons as a partner, alongside Alma De Rosa hired as an associate and Violetta Cozzone as a trainee. The appointments follow the recent opening of the firm's office in the Italian capital in July 2016.
Moreover, the announcement comes after the recent hire of two associates for the firm's Milan office: Ludovica Baldo di Vinadio, who joined the firm's corporate M&A team, and Marco Groppo, who now works at Dentons' real estate practice.
Prior to the role, Abbas had worked as the sole partner in Ashurst's Rome office since 2011, focusing on corporate finance and leveraged finance transactions. According to local press reports, the resignation of Abbas led to the law firm closing its office in Rome and relocating the remaining associates and trainees to Milan.
