Alto Partners hires Gai as industrial adviser
Italian private equity fund manager Alto Partners has hired Paolo Gai as an industrial adviser.
During his career, Gai gained management expertise across several industrial sectors, including plastic materials, packaging and textiles.
In 2007, he took part in the Alto Partners-backed management buy-in of Italian fireplace and pellet stoves manufacturer Caminetti Montegrappa, as managing director of the target company, retaining a 3% stake. He headed the business until 2014, when it was sold to a French trade buyer. The deal saw the GP reap a 5x money multiple after a seven-year holding period.
Prior to that, he had worked as general manager at Nylstar, a manufacturer of nylon fibres, since 2003. In 1998, he joined Marzotto's woollen yarn division.
Gai started his career at Radici Film, which later became Radici Group, a plastic food packaging producer.
