Tages buys stake in Vam Investments
Investment house Tages has acquired a 34% stake in VAM Investments, a private equity firm specialising in growth capital and buyouts.
Tages vice-president Francesco Trapani will acquire an additional 15% stake in VAM and will be appointed executive chairman, while the founder Marco Piana will stay on with the firm and retain his role of CEO.
The deal includes the possibility for Tages to increase its stake in VAM to up to 100% in the next three years, and for VAM's current shareholders and managing partners Marco Piana and Giuliano Palazzo to become shareholders of Tages.
As a result of the partnership, VAM will be able to expand its private equity operations and benefit from Tages' extended presence in Europe, while Tages will diversify its offering by adding private equity to its existing lines of business, focused on hedge funds, infrastructure investments and distressed credit.
Unquote recently reported on the reshaping of the GP shareholding landscape through the growing trend of M&A and minority stake sales.
VAM is a private equity holding company based in Milan and founded in 2011. The firm specialises in growth and buyout private equity investments, acquiring majority or significant minority stakes in European companies.
