DeA to launch Taste of Italy 2
DeA Capital Alternative Funds will start fundraising for its Taste of Italy 2 fund in the second half of 2019.
The fund will be operative from 2020 and has set a target of €250-300m, with a larger international focus, managing director Pierluca Antolini told Unquote.
DeA was not supported by advisers in the fundraising process for the first Taste of Italy fund, but they are now considering hiring consultants for the second fundraise, Antolini said. With some advisory help, management could concentrate better on the fund's strategy, he said.
Although Taste of Italy 2 expects to attract commitments from existing LPs, many of which have already shown interest, it also aims to attract more foreign investors.
Some of the next fund's potential targets will also be sought abroad, with Spain being the most attractive geographical area for it, Antolini said, noting that management has already got some experience in this market through the activity of some of its current portfolio companies.
Idea Taste of Italy held a final close on €218m in January 2017, against a €200m target, and is currently 71% deployed across six portfolio companies, according to Unquote Data.
