Tikehau launches fund for Banca March private clients
Tikehau Capital has launched its first European Long-Term Investment Fund (ELTIF) dedicated to Banca March private clients in Spain.
The fund will focus on companies active in energy transition by financing and supporting their development, transformation and international expansion. It is designed to enable Banca March's private clients, particularly savers, to invest in long-term assets, including private equity.
This is Tikehau's second initiative specifically addressing private investors' needs, following its partnership with Italian private banking network Fideuram - Intesa Sanpaolo private banking.
It will co-invest with T2 Energy Transition Fund, which was launched in partnership with Total, held a first close on €350m in 2018 and has raised €510m so far.
The vehicles target medium-sized companies based in Europe operating in three key sectors of energy transition: clean energy production; low-carbon mobility; and improvement in energy efficiency, storage and digitalisation. They deploy combined equity tickets of €25-75m.
"Energy transition has become a mega-trend, but there are only a few funds in the private equity space dedicated to this sector that are actually able to inject equity in a company and help it in its growth strategy," Thomas Friedberger, co-chief investment officer and CEO of Tikehau Investment Management, told Unquote. "It is a very good sign that despite the Covid-19 crisis, there has been large demand for ESG private equity products. In the aftermath of the crisis, our fund will contribute to the development and recovery of profitable, high-growth-potential companies that are active in this growing business."
Banca March is a family owned Spanish bank, specialising in private banking and corporate advisory for businesses, family offices and entrepreneurial families.
The bank is also one of the main shareholders in Corporación Financiera Alba, which owns significant stakes in numerous Spanish companies, including Naturgy, Acerinox, Indra, Ebro Foods, BME, Viscofan, Euskaltel and Parques Reunidos.
Tikehau is an investment specialist with €25.8bn in assets under management and shareholder equity of €3.1bn. It is listed on Euronext Paris.
The group invests in various asset classes, including private debt, real estate, private equity and capital markets. Controlled by its managers alongside institutional partners, Tikehau employs 530 staff across its offices based in Europe, Asia and the US.
