Ubi Banca buys stake in Green Arrow Capital
Italian lender Ubi Banca has acquired a minority stake in alternative investment firm Green Arrow Capital (GAC), which specialises in private equity, private debt and infrastructure.
Ubi invested around €2m via a capital increase, for a stake of 5% in the firm, GAC told Unquote.
This is the first financial investor to enter the capital of the firm, currently owned by its founding partners Eugenio De Blasio, Daniele Camponeschi and Alessandro Di Michele, alongside president Luisa Todini and private investors Francesco Giovannini and Stefano Russo.
Established in 2013, GAC has reached assets under management of around €2bn.
The firm acquired Italian private equity house Quadrivio in 2018 and carved out renewable energy asset manager Quercus Assets Selection from Quercus Investment Partners in 2019.
GAC held a final close for its third private equity fund on €230.6m in September 2018 and intends to launch a fourth vehicle with a €400m hard-cap in 2020.
GAC operates in the renewable energy sector via its €100m fund Radiant Clean Energy, its vehicle Investimenti Rinnovabili and a €52m fund called Green Arrow Capital Energy Fund. In addition, the GP is in pre-marketing for a new vehicle with a €500-700m target dedicated to energy infrastructure and renewables, named Fondo Infrastrutture Energetiche.
The GP is also active across other alternative asset classes, including private debt and credit recovery. It closed its Green Arrow Private Debt fund on €136.2m in November 2018 and is raising a €200m fund called Special Credit Situations.
