Sun Capital acquires Famosa
US-based Sun Capital Partners has wholly acquired toy store Famosa from Vista Capital. Completion of the deal is subject to regulatory approval.
In 2005, Vista Capital acquired 100% of Famosa for €130m in a deal that saw Inveralia, Torreal, AC Desarrollo and the remaining shareholders divest their stakes in the business. Following the acquisition by Vista, the business acquired Grupo Feber and Play by Play, which is specialised in the manufacture of stuffed animals.
Based in Onil (Alicante), Famosa has a presence in 50 countries including Portugal, the UK, Italy, France, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Hong Kong.
