3i mulls over possible GES sale
3i Group has hired Citigroup to conduct a strategic review of Spanish wind farms builder Global Energy Services (GES).
A 3i spokesperson stated that "all options are open at the moment" regarding the future of the company. However, sources familiar with the situation said the private equity house was hoping to sell the business, in a deal that could reach €500m and attract private equity and corporate buyers.
Formerly known as Gamesa Energía y Servicios, GES was bought by 3i in 2006 as part of a spinoff from Corporación Tecnológica Gamesa. The deal valued GES at €170m.
