Idea Capital invests in Tecnomeccanica MBI
Idea Capital Funds has acquired a majority stake in Italian aluminium foundry Tecnomeccanica via a management buy-in from its family owners.
The GP invested from its Idea Efficienza Energetica e Sviluppo Sostenibile fund, which recently divested Italian pharmaceutical company Italchimici to listed corporate Recordati in a €130m deal.
As part of the deal, former managing director of automotive components producer Titan Italia, Simone Ferrucci, will take the helm at Tecnomeccanica. Ferrucci also invested for a minority stake in the business.
The Agradi family, who have managed Tecnomeccanica for 30 years, will also retain a stake in the business.
Intesa Sanpaolo and Banca IMI provided a debt package to support the transaction.
Company
Headquartered in Novara and founded in 1945, Tecnomeccanica produces aluminium die cast components for the lighting and automotive sectors. The business generated a turnover of €20m in 2015.
