
SI Capital launches second fund
Spanish VC SI Capital has launched its second vehicle, Energy Efficiency Fund II, with a €100m target.
The vehicle is expected to start its fundraising activity during the first half of 2017 and reach a final close after 18 months, the GP confirmed to unquote".
SI Capital targets annual returns of 3-5% and a net IRR return of 10-12%, during an average 8-10-year holding period for its portfolio companies.
Launched in 2006, the GP's first vehicle, SI Capital R&SI held a final close on €20m and is now fully invested, according to press reports.
Investors
According to a statement, Spanish state-backed Fondo ICO agreed to commit €10m to the vehicle. Existing LPs, including institutional investors, high-net-worth individuals and family offices, are expected to participate in the new vehicle's fundraising activity.
Investments
The fund manager targets 15 investments with an equity ticket ranging between €2-10m. According to a statement, the GP will invest 40% of the committed capital in the Spanish market, with the remaining 60% directed abroad, across the European market.
The vehicle focuses on several market sectors that present opportunities to increase energy efficiency. These sectors include the telecommunications, illumination and automotive segments.
