Investindustrial buys Dispensa Emilia
Italian buyout firm Investindustrial has acquired a 70% stake in Modena-headquartered casual dining chain Dispensa Emilia.
It is the third acquisition from Investindustrial Growth, a lower-mid-market fund that hit its €375m hard-cap in May 2018.
At final close the vehicle had already invested in UK-based lifestyle brand OKA and French PVC producer Benvic.
Investindustrial will support Dispensa Emilia's growth in the short term by opening new restaurants in the region in which it already operates, and later in neighbouring countries.
Company
Dispensa Emilia was founded in 2004 and is headquartered in Modena. Its restaurants serve traditional cuisine from the Emilia-Romagna region with a broad selection of dishes centred around tigella, the local round bread of the Emilia-Romagna region's cuisine.
The company has 10 restaurants in northern Italy, of which six are in the Emilia-Romagna region, two are in Lombardy, and one each in Tuscany and Veneto. Dispensa Emilia has reported annual revenues of approximately €20m.
