Ambienta buys AromataGroup
Ambienta has acquired Italy-based AromataGroup, a manufacturer of natural flavours and colours for the food and beverage, pharmaceutical, nutraceutical and cosmetic industries.
According to press reports, the deal values the company at around €60m.
Following the deal, the current management will continue to run the business and retain a significant minority holding in the group.
Under its new owners, the company intends to consolidate its market position and expand its range of products by diversifying into adjacent segments such as the savoury ingredients market. AromataGroup also plans to pursue international expansion, primarily through new acquisitions.
The GP deployed capital from its Ambienta III fund, which held a first and final close on €635m in May 2018, hitting its hard-cap and exceeding its original €500m target.
Company
Founded in 2011 and based in Bresso, AromataGroup is composed of four companies that specialise in natural flavour and colour manufacturing: Variati Aromi, Select Alimenta, Emans Derivati Aromatici and Florio Colori. The group owns three production plants located in northern Italy, employs 120 people and sells its products to 1,200 customers across 50 countries. AromataGroup expects to generate EBITDA of €5m from revenues of €30m in 2018.
