Route Capital Partners buys Barikell
Italian private equity firm Route Capital Partners has acquired a majority stake in Barikell, a Modena-based construction machinery manufacturer.
The GP backed Barikell alongside two Italian private investors, Gianfranco Padovani and Vittorio Cereghini. The company's founder, Luca Zivieri, will continue to lead the business and retained a minority stake.
A debt package to support the deal was provided by BPER Banca.
The GP intends to support the management in this new phase of growth by expanding the company's product offering, further consolidating its market position and boosting its growth. This will be done through new acquisitions aiming at creating a pool of Italian companies with a leadership position in the construction machinery sector.
Company
Established in 1972 and headquartered in Modena, Barikell specialises in manufacturing power trowels and other construction equipment. The company generated a 20% EBITDA margin from revenues of around €10m in 2017, of which 90% came from outside Italy.
