Ambienta backs machinery manufacturer Amutec
Ambienta has acquired a majority stake in Italian industrial machinery manufacturer Amutec.
The GP deployed capital from its Ambienta third fund, which held a final close in May 2018, surpassing its €500m target and hitting its €635m hard-cap.
Unquote understands that a debt package was provided by Intesa Sanpaolo, BNL and Crédit Agricole to support the transaction.
Following the deal, Paolo de Angelis was appointed as CEO of Amutec.
Ambienta intends to support the company in expanding its product offering and further strengthening its position by pursuing a buy-and-build strategy across the sector.
Company
Founded in 1996 and based in Greve in Chianti, near Florence, Amutec specialises in manufacturing machinery for the production of plastic, biodegradable and recycled bags.
The company claims that its machines promote better waste management through the production of recycled plastic and the introduction of more sustainable bio-based polymers. Amutec generates revenues of around €20m.
