Chimera Investments backs bike company Colnago
UAE-based investment fund Chimera Investments has acquired a majority stake in Italian bicycle company Colnago.
Colnago's founder, Ernesto Colnago, will retain a small minority stake in the business.
Following the deal, the company's production facilities and staff will remain in Cambiago.
Company
Established in 1952 and based in Cambiago, Colnago specialises in designing and manufacturing bicycles.
The brand's bikes have collected victories in the Tour de France, Giro d'Italia and Paris-Roubaix, taking wins on Olympic and world championship stages. The UAE Team Emirates WorldTour squad, which plays host to eight Italian riders, has ridden Colnago bikes since 2017.
The company launched a new model, the V3R, in July 2019 and entered the gravel market a few months later with the G3X. Colnago generates annual revenues of around €15-20m.
