Mutares exits Nexive in €60m deal
German private equity firm Mutares has sold its 80% stake in Italian mail specialist Nexive to Poste Italiane, in a deal which gives the company an enterprise value of €60m.
In addition to the stake acquired from Mutares, Poste Italiane also bought the remaining 20% holding in Nexive owned by Dutch company Postnl European Mail Holdings.
Mutares invested in Nexive in February 2020, when it bought an 80% stake in the company from Postnl, which retained the remainder. Postnl is a listed company specialising in mail and logistics, with annual revenues of €2.8bn.
The transaction is expected to have a relevant positive impact on Mutares's results, according to the firm.
Headquartered in Munich, Mutares typically invests in companies or divisions that generate little profit and are no longer part of the core business of a larger corporation. It targets European companies that have potential for development and already possess established business models – often combined with strong brands.
The firm focuses on the automotive, mobility, engineering, technology and consumer goods and services sectors and invests in companies generating turnover between €50-500m.
Company
Established in 1998 as TNT Post and rebranded in 2014, Nexive provides mail, postal and delivery services across Italy.
The company employs 1,300 staff and generates annual revenues of around €200m.
