UK & Ireland unquote" out now
The latest digital edition of UK & Ireland unquote” is out now, featuring all the latest analysis, deals and exits in the region.
Despite the end of the summer, activity in the region was slow off the mark in early September, though this is hardly surprising given the return of difficult economic circumstances.
The sovereign debt crisis continued to rage through August and has this month hit Western Europe, with some French banks being downgraded by ratings agencies. Though the UK is somewhat insulated from the troubles of the Eurozone, it is heavily reliant on trade with European countries and the crisis could be having an impact on deal completions.
As the unquote" Regional Mid-Market Barometer reveals, numbers are down across all deal sizes in the first six months of the year, with the notable exception of the London area which continued to see strong growth through early 2011. The market retreat after a strong recovery in 2010 mirrors the change in economic fortunes.
