Record year for exits according to Cinven poll
A recent poll by Cinven and IE Consulting suggests that 2004 recorded the highest number of exits from large buyouts (E250m+) ever completed in Europe. According to its figures, 34 such deals were completed during the year, driven largely by an upturn in IPO activity during the second quarter of the year. The UK topped the poll with 12 buyouts completed during 2004, while nine were recorded in Germany. Analysis of the period between 2000 and 2004 showed European exit activity at the top end of the market was concentrated in the UK market - it accounted for over half the total number of deals.
