IP2IPO
IP2IPO, the specialist intellectual property investor, has signed a joint venture with Kings College London in a move to assist the college’s commercialisation of its IP. King’s College has particular potential for health-related ventures, through the medical schools it runs at King’s College and Guy’s and St Thomas’s hospitals. IP2IPO will invest an initial £5m over five years in companies spun out from King’s, and work with KCL enterprises, King’s financial arm. IP2IPO is a unit of the Evolution financial services group, which has similar deals with the University of Southampton and Oxford University’s chemistry department, which together have spun out ten companies. The move has come at the same time as Bioscience Managers announced the launch of a fund with privileged access to commercial life science opportunities at Imperial College.
