Managing innovation
Major UK corporations must embrace corporate venturing, according to Palo Alto's Robert Ackerman Jr, speaking at the third annual conference on corporate venturing in Europe. Corporate venturing involves large corporations reaching out to nurture early-stage companies with innovative ideas, a strategy that, Ackerman explained, 'usually involves significant risk taking and volatility'. Held in London, the event 'Global Corporate Venturing and Strategic Partnering' was hosted by Greenhouse Ventures and brought together more than 250 senior specialists in corporate venturing from Europe, as well as the US, Asia and the Middle East.
