Demand for private equity increases
According to a report from Hotbed, demand from private investors for opportunities to invest in private equity and other alternative assets has increased as they continue to outperform other asset classes. Research from the BVCA and PWC shows that between 1992 and 2002, UK private equity produced an annual IRR of 22%, whereas equities and cash/deposits produced a 7% return on investment over the same period. According to Gary Robins, chief executive of Hotbed many financial advisors are advising their clients to hold between 5-10% alternative assets in their portfolio.
