3i invests in PFI
3i has invested £150m into Infrastructure Investors (I2) as part of its focus on the European infrastructure market. I² was established in November 2003 by Barclays Private Equity and SG Corporate & Investment Banking and, with £450m of committed funds, is now the largest equity fund in the secondary Private Finance Initiative market. It has a portfolio of 29 operating infrastructure projects in the health, education, transport and state defence sectors with an investment value of £150m. The fund will be managed by 3i, BPE and SG. The equity group's investment team comprised Cressida Hogg, John Barry and Andrew Bell. Financial due diligence for 3i was carried out by Tony Rocker and Neil Rae (KPMG) with legal advice from Macfarlanes (Charles Meek and Stephen Sims).
