EMDA hits the road
The East Midlands Development Agency (EMDA) is leading a scheme, comprising a number of launch events that will build awareness on how to attract funding from the £30m East Midlands Regional Venture Capital Fund (EMRVCF). The first week in March sees a number of sessions across the region reaching around 250 business intermediaries. The aim is to raise awareness among the local intermediary community about the fund and the kinds of deals that are likely to fit the fund’s criteria. By focusing on intermediaries, such as accountants, solicitors and banks, they will subsequently be better positioned to advise their clients on whether they might be eligible to apply for equity or loan capital from the fund. The scheme was recently given the green light by the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry, Patricia Hewitt, and is set to support around 100 young, developing and existing firms all with potential for rapid growth over the next five years.
