
Permira announces potential NXDs for Debenhams
Permira has secured an agreement in principle from Stuart Rose to act as non-executive chairman of Debenhams PLC, should its indicative approach for the company result in a successful offer. Permira has also agreed with Charles Wilson that he will join the board of Debenhams plc as a non-executive director in the event of a successful offer. Stuart Rose was chief executive of Arcadia Group between November 2000 and December 2002, before which he held the position of chief executive at Iceland Group, Booker PLC and Argos PLC. Prior to joining Argos in February 1998, he held various positions at Burton Group, including chief executive of Retail Chains. He began his retail career at Marks & Spencer. He also sits on the boards of Land Securities and NSB Retail Solutions. Charles Wilson was an executive director at Arcadia Group until February 2003 and was previously managing director of Booker Cash and Carry until January 2001. Prior to this, he was an executive director of Booker PLC.
