Small company specialists launch private equity business
David Horner and Robin Boyle of Chelverton Asset Management will launch a new private equity business in the autumn. The aim of the fund is to provide buyout and buy-in management teams with a new investment partner in transactions between £1m and £3m, an area Robin Boyle believes to be under represented in the venture capital industry. The fund plans to raise between £5m and £10m and will choose companies with steady revenues rather than risky ventures. Horner was previously at 3i Corporate Finance and Strand Partners who went on to set up Chelverton Asset Management. Boyle was formerly a small companies broker and investment manager at Athelney Trust and ran his own firm before joining Chelverton in 2000.
