Addleshaw Goddard has announced that Sean Lippell is standing down as corporate division managing partner to target new opportunities for growth of the firm's corporate practice. Paul Devitt is to take over from Lippell as corporate division managing partner and the pair will work together over the next month with the handover occurring on 1 May 2005, the commencement of the firm's new financial year. Devitt qualified in 1988 and joined Freshfields in 1991. He left Freshfields for Addleshaw Goddard in 1993 and became partner in 1995. He specialises in M&A (public and private), flotations and new issues and has recently advised on BT's recommended takeover of Transcomm as well as Openwave Systems' $82.6m acquisition of Magic4.
